User Feedback

"If it had a smoother and more responsive UI, that'll be a ridiculously massive plus."

"good, it was fun and easy to play"

"I felt smart at some points, but some of the levels were a bit tricky to figure out which made me feel a little frustrated."

"Bigger keyboard!"

It had a strong cathartic feeling. Especially after the answering the 10 puzzles and getting a page fragment.
The next step was breaking down the original gameplay interface and starting the

"A way to earn an extra hint, especially for the challenging puzzles"

"I would like the hints to be more informative or as an easier difficulty option."
Many of the user experiences were fairly negative, but still found the game to fun and rewarding.
Here is how I tackled these significant pain points
Paper Prototype
The user feedback gain from the first prototype helped give me a clear vision on how to better the overall enjoyment and how to better their journey through the game screen to the puzzle!
This meant planning new features that understands the user's needs and designing new diegetic UI elements into the game that will enhance the player's overall experience.

Thanks to the user data and the existing prototype, it allowed me to quickly plan out what an expanded layout of the game would look like.
Low-Fidelity Mockups
The next step was breaking down the original gameplay interface and starting the phrase of reinventing the UI into something recognisable.
Prototype Design

Lo-Fi Wireframes

With there already being existing prototype of the game it helped give me a better idea on how to design a UI art while introducing the core theme based around a supernatural detective

A few iterations to get the look right!
It was a difficult process to find the balance of the original prototype design, while still improving the visual identity of the game.
High-Fidelity Mockups
The final design for a polished system.

This was such a rewarding experience to be able to push my design skills to their limits!
